(Official) Augment Questions Thread

The Augments are here!

Based on the response to our sneak previews, we know you’re excited to see the full collection of Augments. We know you’ve waited a long time for this, and we appreciate your patience and support. A big thank you also goes out to everyone who sent…

We’re sure you’re as excited as we are, and may have thoughts of your own! If you have questions about them, or even if you just notice a typo that we missed - this is the place for them. We’ll keep engaged and answering questions, although you may notice a marked increase in engagement later in the day when we’re all off work.

For the Ponzi Brand Metal Detector, would an evolved be able to use their lineage trait to not be mangled?

For calls of No Escape, is it a pre-emptive call on a target, or a reactive call to Never Here. Follow up, what is its delivery method (is it defendable against if delivered before Never here)?

[posted separately from previous post so each can be addressed individually ]

For the “Area Control, negate enhanced movement” aside from negating a single usage of enhance movement, does it also have a duration in the way alert does on stealth?

There are some No Escape calls which must be pre-emptive. For examples, use of the Moulen Rude–it has to hit the target before it’s active, and in that case the strike also carries “No Avoid” though otherwise could be Avoided-- and the Brain Disorientah–which has to be activated before its effect takes place (and cannot be defended against).
Some may be reactive, depending on their rules text, but I don’t believe any such things are in the augments or prints (unless I’m missing something). Which specific case are you asking about?

The “Flower Scented Paint Rounds” have the effect of [The wielder of the augmented firearm may spend 1 Resolve to call ‘No Escape’ on a target within Line of Sight. Must know Master Hunting or Master Awareness to use.] While the FAQ/ Errata has this writeup for Master Stealth: [ Master Stealth: You do not gain a fracture from using Master Stealth. If you use your last Resolve to fuel Master Stealth and it is countered by No Escape, your Resolve is spent, you do not gain a fracture, but you do suffer the other effects of having hit zero Resolve.]. Based off of the preemptive ability to call “No Escape” but also the fact that it can be called as a response to master stealth, the usage of the item is a little confusing.

For thrown weapon augments. Does the augment apply to the set or to one weapon in the set? Along the same lines for the auto sharpening sheath. Is it one sheath for set or for one weapon of the set?

Per the Errata on Line of sight, it would seem like any attack delivered from a gun via line of sight could be avoided like any attack from that weapon, unless it also had some other sort of tag preventing that defense:

What thrown weapon blueprints make a set instead of one?

I think this is a confusion based on 2.0 holdover.

Thrown weapons are not made in sets anymore, but individually. Augments apply individually, accordingly.

As written, no.

Can a telepath using the Feedback Loop use mental endurance to resist the agony since they arent already immune?

This may be a dumb question, but when an augment expires, does the weapon/item expire with it or keep its original expiration?

Only the augment.

For the specific faith only where the faith symbol of the crafter has to be inscribed would Blue Hue Goo allow you to craft it in any faith?

No, this is often a misunderstanding of how Blue Hue Goo works. You are only considered other faiths for the purpose of being Targeted by anomaly skills. It doesn’t change what faith you actually are.

FIRST Q&A ROUNDUP:

Q: For the Ponzi Brand Metal Detector, would an evolved be able to use their lineage trait to not be mangled?
A: Nothing stops them from doing so! The Evolved are a hardy lineage, well-suited to the dangers of mines, delves, and other locations that might fall on you.

Q: For calls of No Escape, is it a pre-emptive call on a target, or a reactive call to Never Here. Follow up, what is its delivery method (is it defendable against if delivered before Never here)?
A: It can be either, depending on the call. We will clarify on the Flower Scented augment print tonight.

Q: For the “Area Control, negate enhanced movement” aside from negating a single usage of enhance movement, does it also have a duration in the way alert does on stealth?
A: It does not; like Avoid for a Strike, it’s a tit-for-tat counter, unlike the lasting negation from Awareness against Stealth.

Q: For thrown weapon augments. Does the augment apply to the set or to one weapon in the set? Along the same lines for the auto sharpening sheath. Is it one sheath for set or for one weapon of the set?
A: Unlike in 2.0, thrown weapons are no longer built in ‘sets’. Augments are individual, as are throwing weapons.

Q: Can a telepath using the Feedback Loop use mental endurance to resist the agony since they arent already immune?
A: Yes, as can any others in the AOE.

Q: When an augment expires, does the weapon/item expire with it or keep its original expiration?
A: The weapon keeps its original expiration; only the augment expires.

Q: For the specific faith only where the faith symbol of the crafter has to be inscribed would Blue Hue Goo allow you to craft it in any faith?
A: No, this is often a misunderstanding of how Blue Hue Goo works. You are only considered other faiths for the purpose of being Targeted by anomaly skills. It doesn’t change what faith you actually are.

If augments are becoming their own classification and aren’t gizmos, have the gizmo: augments from the seasonal items changed to just be augments? Is a Room augment distinct from augment-room?

Yes; seasonal items are getting reviewed shortly, and we’ll be bringing the augment-type items in line with the mainline augments as necessary.

A Room Augment is augmented by an Augment - Room

Don’t think about that too much you’ll hurt your head.

I already plan to hurt my head. I’m updating my Almanac.

I am planning on going through all the prints on the database to check for changes, because I also noticed the inclusion of time, mind, and printing requirements that got added to the database on the sly.
