Can Expired Items be Used in the Master Research Center Effect?

Or do they have to be un-expired?

Expired items by their nature can’t be used mechanically unless something states otherwise (eg: compost). So they have to be in-expired. That’s my call at least.

They have to be unexpired to be broken down into useful materials in the Research Center. Once they are expired, they no longer have useful parts.
